Since the beginning
Safari Group started slow with watches and perfumes in the early 1990s, though their dreams were huge. Driven by a founder who always had a keen interest in rising opportunities, he made sure he pursued it with a team of similar ambitious minds. From our first mall in 2010 to the latest one in 2024, our family, collaborations and popularity have grown, yet what remains the same is our commitment to a long-time vision, A Mall For All.

The Backstory Behind Our Journey

In 1979, an ordinary man from Malabar, Kerala, Mr. Aboobacker Madappat boarded his first flight to Qatar. Starting his journey in Qatar as a blue-collar worker, he quickly identified opportunities to enhance his skills and advance his career. Within three years, he secured a position as a salesman at a retail company specializing in luxury brands, including Christian Dior and other luxury brands. Over the next 10 years, through hard work and dedication, he rose through the ranks to become a manager. Eventually, he decided to resign from his managerial role to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions and start his own business.
1997 started Safari Trading where he distributed products for major retail brands in Qatar and later in 2005 decided to start his own hypermarket. In 2010 Safari Mall concept was born.

Safari operates a total of 8 outlets across Qatar and the UAE. This includes 5 hypermarkets and 3 malls that together redefine everyday convenience. Each of these spaces are designed to offer a complete experience of shopping, dining and leisure, all under one roof.
3 countries
While Safari’s hypermarkets and malls are based in UAE and the Qatar, the group has also established a strong footprint in India. The group’s diversified business interests have left a lasting impression and continue to thrive with remarkable success.
